✨Job Title: Kitchen Porter
📍Location: Oxygen House, Exeter
✨Term: Fixed Term 6 months (contract, with the potential to extend or become permanent)
⏰Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, daytime hours only. No weekends.
💷Salary: £12.71 per hour plus generous company benefits .
📅Start date: Early December 2026

OH Kitchen is an organic, vegetable-led kitchen serving the Oxygen House community. We create fresh, seasonal food with a focus on quality, sustainability and great hospitality.
We're looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team on a six-month fixed-term contract. This is a vital role within the kitchen, helping to ensure our chefs have a clean, safe and organised environment in which to deliver exceptional food every day.
Whether you already have kitchen experience or are looking to start a career in catering, we'd love to hear from enthusiastic individuals who take pride in a job well done and enjoy working as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Wash and put away pots, pans, utensils, crockery and kitchen equipment throughout the day.
Keep kitchen surfaces, floors, equipment and storage areas clean and tidy.
Receive and store deliveries, ensuring good stock rotation practices are followed.
Maintain clean and organised fridges, freezers and dry stores.
Manage waste, recycling and compost streams correctly.
Use cleaning products safely and follow COSHH guidelines.
Report any maintenance, hygiene or safety concerns to the Sous Chef.
Support the wider kitchen team with other reasonable duties as required.
Job requirements
About You
You'll be:
Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
Comfortable carrying out physical tasks, including lifting deliveries and being on your feet for extended periods.
Organised and able to work efficiently during busy periods.
A positive team player who is happy to help wherever needed.
Someone with high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
Proactive and able to spot what needs doing without being asked.
Desirable
Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or within a catering environment.
Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification.
Awareness of COSHH and safe chemical handling.
An interest in sustainability, waste reduction and recycling.
